Rhodes to Slaapkranz

We left Rhodes at 06h30 and its was -1c  when we put he bikes onto the road. We rode well up the hill out of Rhodes and had a great downhill just after turning left towards Chesney World. 16 Km from Chesney we hit the mud, we could only push our bikes through it and with the wind it did not make for pleasant or quick riding. On arrival at Chesney world we were treated to a great lunch and caught up with how the family were doing. After leaving we managed to make the portage and the top of the mountain by 17h30, and were at the bottom of the mountain just after dark. We then had a terrible ride off the mountain to Slaapkranz, the path was wet and the mud so slippery that you battled to ride. We arrived at the farm just as the Stormers game had started which pleased Tim.

It was really cold washing the bikes and we seemed to be colder tonight than in the past. Our hosts were fantastic and once again they could not do enough for us.
